Banks to remain open on Sunday, 27th September, for convenience of customers

New Delhi, September 23: All public sector banks and Regional Rural Banks will remain open and function normally on Sunday, September 27, ahead of a proposed three-day nationwide bank strike.

The United Forum of Bank Unions has called for the strike from September 28 to 30. As the industrial action follows the weekend holidays of September 26 and 27, banking services could otherwise be affected for five consecutive days.

The Reserve Bank of India has approved the opening of all bank branches and offices, including ATM-linked branches and currency chests, on September 27.

The government and bank managements have appealed to the unions to defer the proposed strike and said measures were being taken to ensure the continuity of essential banking services.

State Bank of India advised customers to complete important transactions before the strike dates. Customers have also been encouraged to use ATMs, automated deposit and withdrawal machines, Customer Service Points, internet banking, mobile banking, YONO, UPI and other digital channels during the proposed strike.
