Shillong, April 11: The BJP Meghalaya Pradesh celebrated its 47th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and unity in Shillong, marked by a series of felicitation ceremonies and academic recognitions highlighting excellence across diverse fields.
As part of the celebration, the party honoured several eminent citizens of the state for their outstanding contributions. Late Martin N. Majaw was posthumously recognised as the architect of the Land Transfer Act, 1971.
Imei Khonstid, Sordar of Raid Lyting under the Phra Blang Khyriem Syiemship and Rangbah Shnong of Lyting Lyngdoh for 41 years, was felicitated for his dedicated community leadership. Padma Shri awardee Trinity Saioo was also honoured for her remarkable contributions, while noted author Salil Gewali received recognition for his internationally acclaimed work Great Minds of India.
The programme also celebrated sporting excellence, with felicitation of six gold medalists in archery from the 1st Tribal Games held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Additionally, kickboxing athletes who secured two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal at the Asia Pacific Open Championship in Bali, Indonesia, were honoured.
Further, distinguished party karyakartas were felicitated for their dedicated service and contribution to the party’s growth.
The event also featured a prize distribution ceremony for the Inter-College Speech Competition and Seminar. Shillong Law College secured the first position, followed by Shillong College in second place and K.L. Bajoria College in third place.
The programme was graced by Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai and MLA A. L. Hek, along with senior party leaders and karyakartas.““The celebration reflected the party’s commitment to recognising excellence, encouraging youth participation, and strengthening grassroots engagement across the state.
