New Delhi, February 16 : “Freedom Fighters of Meghalaya During British Rule,” a book authored by Daniel Stone Lyngdoh, an advocate representing the Government of Meghalaya in the Supreme Court of India, was launched today at Meghalaya House Conference Hall in New Delhi. This book was published by RI Khasi Book Agency, Shillong.
The book launch ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including IPS Robin Hibu, Director General of Police (DGP) and President of Helping Hand NGO, as the Chief Guest. In his address, IPS Hibu emphasized the book’s importance for understanding India’s freedom struggle and the significant contributions of Meghalaya. He recommended the book to students and researchers, highlighting its value as a resource for learning about the sacrifices made by Meghalaya’s freedom fighters.
IAS Amstrong Pame, Director, Ministry of Education, shared his personal experiences of studying in Shillong and underscored the book’s significance for the younger generation. He urged readers to acknowledge and learn from the struggles of Meghalaya’s freedom fighters.
Dr. Teiborlang T Kharshytiew, Assistant Professor at the School of International Relations, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), served as the Guest of Honor. He praised the book for its meticulous research and historical relevance and announced that it would be included in the teaching curriculum at JNU.
Other notable attendees included Kaushal Goyal, Editor of Pigeon Book India, and Dr. Vanora E Nongrum, Medical Commissioner, North Zone, ESI Chandigarh Regional Office, along with many other dignitaries.
Author Daniel Stone Lyngdoh shared the journey of compiling the book, which involved nearly three years of dedicated research and interaction with the families of Meghalaya’s freedom fighters.
The book has been forwarded by Padma Shree Awardee Prof. David R Syiemlieh, former Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University and former Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), adding further credibility to this significant work.
“Freedom Fighters of Meghalaya During British Rule” is now available to readers and researchers, offering a valuable resource for those interested in learning about the history and heritage of Meghalaya.
