Shillong, April 4 : Inspector General (IG) of BSF Meghalaya Frontier, Sh O.P. Upadhyay, met with Meghalaya Chief Minister Sh Conrad Sangma on April 4, 2025, to discuss border security issues.
During the meeting, the IG BSF thanked the state administration and police for their continued support. He briefed the Chief Minister on key issues related to border security, cross-border movement, and the coordination and cooperation between BSF and state agencies. The IG BSF also provided an update on the current security situation along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya, and detailed the BSF’s efforts to curb trans-border crimes, smuggling, and illegal infiltration.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the BSF’s crucial role in safeguarding the international border and ensuring the safety of citizens. He stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration, intelligence sharing, and community engagement to maintain peace and security in the border regions.
The meeting also included discussions on developmental concerns in border villages and explored ways to enhance coordination among the BSF, state agencies, and local communities. The IG BSF reiterated the BSF’s commitment to national security and pledged full cooperation with the Meghalaya government in upholding law and order along the international boundary.
