BSF Seizes Over ₹2 Crore Worth of Contraband, Apprehends 11 in Fortnight-Long Operation

Shillong, March 3 : The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier has achieved significant success in curbing border crimes and strengthening security along the Indo-Bangladesh border. During the fortnight from February 16th to March 2nd, 2025, BSF Meghalaya seized narcotics and other smuggled items worth ₹2, 13, 40,666 crore, apprehended two Indian nationals and nine Bangladeshi nationals involved in various border-related crimes, and conducted several community welfare initiatives.

In a series of operations, BSF troops seized contraband items, apprehended individuals involved in smuggling and illegal border crossing, and rescued 143 cattle. These achievements highlight the BSF’s unwavering commitment to maintaining border security and preventing illegal activities.

BSF Meghalaya also demonstrated its commitment to community welfare by organizing blood donation camps, free medical camps, skill development training, and sports tournaments for border residents. These initiatives aim to improve the well-being of the local population and foster positive relationships between the BSF and border communities.

Furthermore, BSF Meghalaya actively participated in bilateral meetings with border guarding forces of Bangladesh to address cross-border issues and enhance cooperation. These efforts promote mutual understanding and contribute to friendly relations between the two nations.
