CM Flags Off Crime Scene Vehicles, Inaugurates ATS Office

Shillong, September 29 : Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today strengthened the state’s law enforcement capabilities by flagging off DFS Crime Scene Vehicles for all 12 districts. These vehicles will support the forensic unit of the Meghalaya Police in crime scene investigations across the state.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the new office of the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) of the Meghalaya Police, aimed at enhancing counter-terrorism operations and preparedness.

In the same programme, two major digital tools were launched:

  • MEGPOL, an advanced research and data-analysis platform designed to improve investigative efficiency.
  • PIMS (Personnel Information Management System), a centralized system to manage police personnel records and operations seamlessly.

Later, CM Sangma and Home Minister Prestone Tynsong chaired the annual review meeting with Superintendents of Police (SsPs) and Commanding Officers (COs) at the Police Headquarters.

The Chief Minister and the Home Minister also felicitated police personnel for their exemplary work, notably recognizing the team for swiftly solving the Sohra honeymoon murder case, and other officials who successfully resolved critical cases within short timeframes.
