CM Inaugurates Block Integrated Development Complex at Pynursla

Shillong, October 28 : Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed Block Integrated Development Complex (BIDC) at Pynursla C&RD Block, East Khasi Hills District, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sangma expressed his deep appreciation to the officers and staff of the Pynursla C&RD Block and to the local community for their dedication in realizing the project. He highlighted that strengthening administrative infrastructure has been a key focus of the MDA Government since 2018, noting that while schemes may remain the same, the goal has been to ensure more efficient and impactful implementation.

“Many of our block offices were functioning from temporary or dilapidated buildings — some even from just two rooms shared by multiple departments. So we decided that every block must have a proper office, something that hadn’t been done in the past 30 or 40 years,” he said.

The Chief Minister announced that funds have now been sanctioned for all 56 blocks in Meghalaya to have permanent office complexes built under a uniform design model. “All 56 blocks are either inaugurated, under construction, or in the process of being tendered. Within a year or two, every block will have a new office,” Sangma stated.

Sangma shared that the government has invested over ₹150 crore in constructing and upgrading administrative buildings across the state. He also mentioned that under the Police Infrastructure Renovation Fund (PIRF), district Superintendents of Police have been empowered to directly undertake repairs and upgrades of police stations.

The Chief Minister revealed that nearly ₹500 crore has been utilized for renovation and construction of school buildings across Meghalaya — from lower primary to higher secondary levels. “We are ensuring that not just administration, but also our schools have proper facilities. We are now focusing on aided and SSA schools as well,” he said.

In the health sector, Sangma informed that substantial funds have been sanctioned for Primary Health Centres (PHCs), sub-centres, and new DC and SDO offices in regions lacking adequate infrastructure. “If we want to provide quality services at the grassroots, we must first have proper structures in place,” he emphasized.

Among those present at the event were Sanbor Shullai, Minister of Arts and Culture; CVD Diengdoh, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya; Evarinlla Warjri, SDO (Civil), Pynursla Civil Sub-Division; and Peter T. Passah, Project Director, DRDA, East Khasi Hills, along with other officials and community leaders.
