CM Inspects Construction of India’s Largest Upcoming Football Stadium

Shillong, December 11 : Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction at the Mawkhanu Football Stadium today. Once completed, the facility is expected to become the largest football stadium in the country. Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.

Speaking at the site, the Chief Minister highlighted the significance of the project for the state’s sporting landscape. “Meghalaya is a football-loving state. This structure will be a great incentive and boost to sports, especially the football sector”. He described the Mawkhanu Stadium as an upcoming iconic structure that will elevate the state’s reputation in national sports infrastructure.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister and accompanying dignitaries poured concrete at the North Stand of the stadium, symbolizing the foundation laying of this major sports facility.

Fr. Richard Majaw led a prayer ceremony seeking divine blessings and favour for the successful completion of the project.
