Shillong, January 20 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma reiterated the Meghalaya government’s focus on prioritizing the state’s youth during a speech at the Meghalaya IT Awards ceremony on Monday. The event, held at U Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong, honored over 300 meritorious students from the 2023-24 academic year, recognizing their achievements with laptops.
Sangma emphasized that the government’s policies are designed with young people at the forefront, underscoring their role as central to the state’s growth and development. “Youth are at the center of our decision-making, and everything we do is done with your interests in mind,” he said, stressing that programs are tailored to meet their needs and aspirations.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s initiatives to develop sports infrastructure, aiming to equip young talents for national and international competitions, including the Olympics. “We are committed to preparing our youth to compete at the highest levels,” he noted.
Speaking about the government’s comprehensive approach to decision-making, Sangma shared details of the lifecycle framework that focuses on the needs of mothers, children, and young people. “We are laying the foundation for the future of our state and our country,” he stated.
Congratulating the award recipients, Sangma encouraged them to remain disciplined and punctual. “This is just the beginning of your journey. We believe that you will continue to strive for excellence and motivate others,” he added.
