Shillong, July 21: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday reviewed the progress of ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects related to Meghalaya Houses located across major cities in the country.
The Chief Minister chaired a virtual meeting with the Minister in charge of the General Administration Department and senior departmental officials to assess construction, expansion and modernisation works.
The review covered projects in Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Vellore and Kolkata, including the development of new facilities, expansion of existing Meghalaya Houses and measures to improve their functioning.
Sangma examined the progress and implementation timelines of each project and directed officials to ensure timely execution without compromising construction quality.
He stressed the need for effective planning so that the facilities can meet the growing requirements of Meghalaya residents travelling outside the state.
The meeting also discussed steps to strengthen the management and operation of Meghalaya Houses and improve services for students, patients travelling for medical treatment, government officials and other citizens.
The Chief Minister said the establishments should remain welcoming, efficient and well-managed facilities that serve as a “home away from home” for the people of Meghalaya.
He further directed the department to closely monitor implementation and expedite pending works to ensure that the proposed infrastructure is completed within the stipulated timelines.
The government said the review reflects its continued commitment to expanding and modernising Meghalaya House facilities to provide greater convenience, accessibility and support to residents travelling outside the state.
