CM Sangma Inaugurates Upgraded First Referral Unit at Ranikor CHC

Ranikor, January 24 : Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today inaugurated the newly upgraded First Referral Unit (FRU) at the Ranikor Community Health Centre (CHC) in South West Khasi Hills. Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh was also present at the inauguration.

The upgraded facilities include a fully functional operation theatre, a labor room, and advanced equipment for various medical investigations. This enhanced infrastructure aims to significantly improve healthcare services for residents in the surrounding rural areas.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Sangma stated, “This is a proud moment for the state as we take another step towards improving healthcare accessibility in rural areas. Many people have had to travel five to six hours for essential medical services, and this facility will help bridge that gap and potentially save lives.”

He expressed his gratitude to the health department and frontline healthcare workers, saying, “I commend the dedication and sacrifice of our doctors and nurses, who serve tirelessly in these challenging locations. Their commitment to the people of the state is truly admirable.”

This upgrade is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services and ensure equitable access to healthcare across Meghalaya.
