Tura, March 12: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday visited several localities in Tura to assess the situation on the ground following the recent incidents of unrest that caused damage to properties in parts of the town.

During his visit, the Chief Minister interacted with residents, community leaders, and officials while reviewing the ongoing efforts to restore normalcy. He also inspected areas where shops and other structures were damaged and assured affected individuals and business owners that the government would take necessary steps to provide support.

Meanwhile, a massive clean-up drive was launched across various parts of Tura with large numbers of residents voluntarily joining the effort. Community members, youth groups, and local organisations were seen working together to clear debris, damaged materials, and burnt remains left behind after the disturbances.

The clean-up operations were carried out in several markets and roadside areas, with volunteers using tools and vehicles to remove debris and restore the surroundings. The initiative reflected strong unity among residents who expressed their determination to rebuild and bring the town back to normal.

Authorities and community leaders have appreciated the collective effort of the people, noting that such community participation plays a crucial role in restoring peace and normalcy in the town. The district administration is continuing to monitor the situation closely and coordinating with local groups to ensure that restoration work progresses smoothly.
