Shillong, March 27 : Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the third edition of Culinary Cascade 2026 at Ward’s Lake, marking the beginning of a two-day festival celebrating food, culture, and creativity.
The festival, themed “Crafted for All 5 Senses,” is being held on March 27–28 and is organised by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with Meghalayan Age Ltd., MyMeG, and the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Program.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the festival has grown significantly over the past three years, creating opportunities for chefs, entrepreneurs, and youth.
He emphasised that such events are part of a long-term strategy to build Meghalaya’s brand, describing them as “strategic investments” rather than mere expenditures.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced Mission 1000, an initiative aimed at addressing malnutrition and stunting among children in the state.
The programme will focus on monitoring children from birth, improving nutrition, and integrating local food systems with community participation.
Officials highlighted that the festival promotes Meghalaya’s cuisine, crafts, and culture while supporting local entrepreneurs and strengthening linkages between agriculture, food processing, and tourism.
Culinary Cascade 2026 features panel discussions, live cooking demonstrations, product launches, and musical performances, offering a multi-sensory experience for visitors.
The festival aims to position Meghalaya as a leading culinary tourism destination, while showcasing its rich heritage, local produce, and vibrant community spirit.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the beginning of two days of celebration that blend food, culture, and innovation in the heart of Shillong.
