Shillong, September 26 : The Government of Meghalaya has announced the appointment of Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed, IAS (RR:1995) as the new Chief Secretary of Meghalaya. He will take charge on September 30, 2025, following the superannuation of the present Chief Secretary, D.P. Wahlang, IAS (RR:1993).
According to an official notification issued by C.V.D. Diengdoh, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Personnel & A.R. (A) Department, Dr. Ahammed, currently Additional Chief Secretary overseeing Home (Police), Home (Political), Water Resources Departments, as well as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Chairman of the Board of Revenue, will now serve as Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya.
In addition to his new role, Dr. Ahammed will also function as the State Vigilance Commissioner.
