East Khasi Hills Clinch Championship at NHM Sports Meet 2025 Closing Ceremony

Shillong, October 18 : The 1st Annual Sports Meet of the National Health Mission Employees Association (NHM), Meghalaya, concluded with a spirited closing ceremony at Nongkseh Sports Ground, celebrating camaraderie, fitness, and teamwork among healthcare professionals from across the state.

Held under the theme “Wellness through Sports, Service through Health,” the three-day event showcased the vibrant energy and sporting spirit of NHM employees who competed in football, basketball, badminton, and tug-of-war, among other disciplines. East Khasi Hills District emerged as the overall champions, earning praise for their outstanding performance and team coordination.

The closing ceremony was graced by Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, MLA of Mylliem Constituency, as the Chief Guest, and Daniel M. Thangkhiew, Political Secretary & OSD to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, as the Guest of Honour.

In his address, Lyngdoh lauded the NHM staff for their enthusiasm and team spirit. “This event helps bring out the child in every individual. It’s a historic and momentous occasion, and I hope the coming years will see even greater participation,” he said, urging participants to extend the same dedication toward promoting community health and wellness.

Thangkhiew, in his remarks, thanked the NHM for choosing Nongkseh as the venue and praised the energy the event brought to the locality. “The discipline and unity shown over the past three days are truly inspiring. Nongkseh will always remain open to hosting such events,” he said.

Dr. B. Mawlong, Joint Director of Health Services (MCH & FW), congratulated the participants for demonstrating teamwork and positivity. “This event is not just a competition, but a celebration of energy, unity, and sportsmanship that binds us beyond our offices,” she said, adding that sports play a crucial role in combating non-communicable diseases and improving mental health.

Ibamonlang Nongbri, State Programme Manager, NHM, Meghalaya, expressed gratitude to all participants and organisers, reminding them that their dedication does not go unnoticed. “There is always someone appreciating your work — continue to give your best,” she said.

Kmembhalang Khongwir, Internal Advisor, NEAM, shared insights into the association’s journey and commitment to employee welfare, reaffirming their guiding motto — “To Serve, To Support.”

Earlier in the programme, Pynshainam Mylliem, Vice President, CEC, delivered the welcome address, while Hiporly Talang, Vice President, DEC, NEAM, recapped the highlights of the three-day event and proposed the vote of thanks.

The sports meet concluded with a collective pledge to continue fostering teamwork, physical wellness, and unity among health workers — ensuring that the spirit of service and sportsmanship continues to thrive in Meghalaya.

Dignitaries present included  Malcom Kharshiing, Kmembhalang Khongwir, Edison Khymdeit, Hiporly Talang, and Pynshainam Mylliem.
