Shillong, May 19 : The District Administration of East Khasi Hills today initiated a 45-day pre-recruitment coaching cum training program for aspiring Agniveer candidates (Indian Army). The initiative aims to equip local youth with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully clear the Common Entrance Exams scheduled for late June or the first week of July 2025. The coaching is being held at KJP Synod Girls Hr Secondary School in Mawkhar.
The inaugural session witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including C.V. D Diengdoh, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary of GAD; R M Kurbah, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills; Col Vinay Kumar, Director of the Army Recruitment Office; S. Warjri, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner; and Lt Col (Retd) S Marbaniang, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer.
Addressing the enthusiastic candidates, Cyril Diengdoh emphasized the significance of joining the Indian Army as a pathway to a respectable and disciplined life, beyond just a career. He urged the attendees to be regular and dedicated in their participation in both the coaching and physical training sessions to maximize their chances of success in the upcoming selection process.
Col Vinay Kumar provided the candidates with a comprehensive overview of the Agniveer scheme, highlighting its benefits and outlining the selection criteria, syllabus, and recruitment process.
R M Kurbah, the Deputy Commissioner, underscored that this free coaching cum training program is a strategic effort by the District Administration to provide candidates with the essential knowledge and skills required to excel in both the written entrance exams and the physical fitness tests. She encouraged the aspirants to be diligent in their training, expressing her hope to see many of them join the Indian Army. She also announced that candidates who successfully clear the written examinations will receive an additional 30 days of intensive physical training to further prepare them for the next stage of recruitment.
