The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Shillong, successfully inaugurated its flagship event, Fashion Spectrum 2025, on March 7th 2025, at its permanent campus in Umsawli, Mawpat, Shillong.
The inaugural function was graced by Major General (RTD) Rajesh Kumar Jha Director (Personel) and Elbin Deepika Doley, GM(HR) CSR, of North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited. In his speech Major General Kumar, cheered upon the creativity of the students. He encouraged them to dream big and realize their dreams through sheer hard work and dedication.
Hasina Kharbhih, Founder Managing Director Impulse Social Enterprises Brand Impulse Empower. In her inspiring speech, Kharbhih encouraged the students to pursue their passions and never give up on their dreams. “As you embark on this journey of creativity and innovation, remember that success is not just about achieving your goals, but also about the impact you make on the world around you,” Kharbhih said. “Never be afraid to take risks, to experiment, and to push boundaries. It is through these efforts that you will truly shine and make a difference.”
The Campus Director, Shankar Kumar Jha, also addressed the gathering, encouraging the students to seize the opportunities presented by Fashion Spectrum 2025. “This event is not just a celebration of fashion and creativity, but also a platform for you to showcase your talents, to learn from each other, and to grow as individuals,” Mr. Jha said. “I urge you all to make the most of this opportunity, to shine brightly, and enjoy the journey.”
Events lined up for the two day event are Marathon, Volleyball Tug of War, Debate, Creative writing, Eco Art Competition, Pictionary, Slam poetry, Face painting, Photography competition, carrom, Chess, Dance competitions, Singing Competitions, Mr. and Ms. Spectrum, and so on. The first day of Spectrum 2025 was a huge success, with enthusiastic participation from students of various educational institutions like North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy (NEIAH), Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), Meghalaya Institute of Technology (MIT), NLU (National Law University) and others.
The inaugural function of Fashion Spectrum 2025 was a resounding success, with participants and attendees alike praising the event’s organization and execution. The event reinforced NIFT Shillong’s commitment to promoting creativity, innovation, and community engagement.
