Shillong, August 1: Four leaders of the Hynñiewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), East Khasi Hills District, were arrested on Friday at around 9 pm for allegedly taking a Senior Advocate from his office chamber and publicly parading him from Keatinge Road to Sadar Police Station after accusing him of allegedly sexually harassing an intern student.
According to reports, the four HNYF leaders arrested have been identified as Steve Khyriem, Tyllibor Swer, Jeff Sohtun and Kit Ryngkhlem. Within 24 hours of their arrest, the four were taken by police for a medical examination at Shillong Civil Hospital on Saturday before being produced before the court.
The court subsequently remanded all four accused to 14 days of judicial custody.
