Shillong, January 28 : Meghalaya Police are investigating a series of crime incidents reported across the state, including vehicle thefts, burglaries, and illegal border crossings.
East Khasi Hills:
- Delivery Fraud: J. Dkhar reported being cheated of ₹3,189 while delivering food in Laitkor.
- Vehicle Theft: Lakhabinder Singh reported the theft of his vehicle (ML-05Z-4977) from the premises of the Indian Oil Petrol Pump at Mawkhanu on January 24th.
East Jaintia Hills:
- Scooter Theft: P. Phawa reported the theft of his scooter (ML-11-8319) from a garage at Wahshnong Club, Tuber Kmaishnong, on the morning of January 26th.
West Jaintia Hills:
- Scooter Theft: Lamcy Lakiang reported the theft of her scooter (ML-04D-9291) from Salaroh, Jowai, on the morning of January 24th.
- Scooter Theft: Wanjanpaul Timung reported the theft of his scooter (ML-05AE-2920) from Soomer-Sabahmuswang village on the morning of January 25th.
Ri-Bhoi:
- Cargo Theft: Ram B.D. Patel reported the theft of 400 bags of cement from a vehicle (AS-01KC-0784) near Umling Petrol Pump, RiBhoi District while in transit from SCL Lumshnong to Azara, Assam, on January 15th.
- Apprehension of Bangladeshi Nationals: On January 25th, police intercepted a tourist vehicle (AS-01QC-4958) in Byrnihat, Ribhoi District and detained two Bangladeshi nationals, Ahmed Ali (55 years old) and Nazim Uddin (38 years old), who were traveling without valid documents. They reportedly entered India illegally with the help of a middleman named “Islam.”
East Garo Hills:
- Motorcycle Theft and Apprehension: Tura Police apprehended two suspected motorcycle thieves, Jangkal B. Marak (29 years old) and Tengwal R. Marak (30 years old), from Songsak, East Garo Hills District on January 25th. Two scooters and one motorcycle were recovered from their possession.
North Garo Hills:
- Vehicle Theft: Luince D. Sangma reported the theft of her Bolero pick-up (ML-13-0748) from her residence in Throikakona village on the morning of January 22nd.
