GOVERNOR PHAGU CHAUHAN APPEALS FOR MORE DONORS TO JOIN NIKSHAY MITRA INITIATIVE

Shillong, November 09 : In a meeting with National Consultant – PMTBMBA, Central TB Division (CTD), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI, D. Dharma Rao, Governor Phagu Chauhan expressed his appreciation for the progress of Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (PMTBMBA) in Meghalaya and appealed for more donors to join the Nikshay Mitra initiative.

Governor Chauhan, himself a Nikshay Mitra, commended the efforts of 132 generous individuals, elected representatives, NGOs, corporations, cooperatives, faith-based organizations, and officials from various departments who have come forward to support a total of 1177 TB patients in Meghalaya.

With the current number of TB patients undergoing treatment in the state standing at 2937, Governor Chauhan emphasized the potential for Meghalaya to achieve 100% coverage of nutritional support for TB patients. He urged more individuals to step forward and participate in the noble cause of Nikshay Mitra.

The Nikshay Mitra initiative aims to increase societal engagement in the fight against tuberculosis. Improving the nutritional status of TB patients is expected to lead to better treatment outcomes and reduce the discrimination and stigma associated with the disease.

Nikshay Mitra is an online platform that allows individuals to register themselves and pledge nutritional support for TB patients. The initiative provides a direct and transparent way for individuals to contribute to the fight against tuberculosis.
