Ha Lyngkha Bneng – The Elysian Field Returns to Shillong for a Second Homecoming

Run Before Travelling to Delhi, Kathmandu and New York

Shillong, May 13 : After receiving an overwhelming response during its first homecoming screenings in Shillong earlier this March, Khasi feature film Ha Lyngkha Bneng – The Elysian Field will return once again to the city for a special second homecoming theatrical run at Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong, from 18th May to 31st May 2026. The film will be screened daily across four shows at 12 PM, 2:30 PM, 5 PM, and 7 PM, giving audiences multiple opportunities to experience the film during its two-week run.

The upcoming Shillong screenings are being organised in collaboration with the Department of Arts & Culture, Government of Meghalaya. The team also expressed gratitude towards Hello Meghalaya for their support towards the journey of the film and for supporting cinema and creating a meaningful space for films from Meghalaya.

Earlier this year, the March screenings of the film at Soso Tham Auditorium witnessed packed shows and emotional audience responses, turning the venue into a shared cinematic space where audiences from different generations came together through cinema. The second homecoming hopes to continue that spirit once again, with audiences expected to gather throughout the day across all four scheduled screenings.

While returning home to Shillong, Ha Lyngkha Bneng – The Elysian Field also continues its international festival journey. On 23rd May, the film will travel to New Delhi for a screening at the prestigious Habitat International Film Festival. On 31st May, the film will simultaneously be screened internationally in Nepal and the United States as part of the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival and the New York Indian Film Festival.

Adding to the celebrations, the film has also received nominations for Best Film and Best Director at the New York Indian Film Festival, one of the leading platforms for Indian independent cinema internationally.

Over the last few months, Ha Lyngkha Bneng – The Elysian Field has emerged as one of the most recognised films from Meghalaya, winning major honours including Best Film and Best Director at the 47th Moscow International Film Festival, while continuing to travel across several international film festivals.

Speaking about the journey of the film, director Pradip Kurbah said: “When we first screened the film in Shillong in March, the love and warmth we received from the audience stayed with us deeply. We are simply grateful that the film has continued to travel and connect with people in different places. Before it journeys to Delhi, Kathmandu, and New York, it feels meaningful for all of us to bring it home once again to Shillong. This journey has only been possible because of the audience, our team, and everyone who stood by the film from the very beginning.”

The team also shared that the Shillong screenings are not only about exhibiting a film, but about continuing to build spaces where people can come together and experience cinema collectively. The screenings are expected to once again bring together students, cinephiles, artists, and audiences from across Meghalaya for a shared cinematic experience rooted in the landscapes, memories, and emotions of the hills.
