Shillong, November 04 : The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, Rosetta Mary Kurbah, has prohibited heavy vehicles exceeding the load of 15 MT (fifteen Metric Ton) from proceeding from Shillong towards Umiam Bridge. Such vehicles should proceed towards Shillong Bye Pass through Mawryngkneng.
This order has been passed in exercise of the powers conferred upon the District Magistrate under section 144 Cr.P.C. in view of the urgent need to immediately regulate the flow of traffic at Umiam Bridge and to avoid further damage to the bridge.
The order has come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force till further orders.
