Shillong, September 8: All State Government offices, Revenue and Magisterial Courts and educational institutions in East Khasi Hills district, East Jaintia Hills District, Ri-Bhoi District will remain closed on September 18, 2026, on account of “Unitarian Anniversary Day.”
According to an order issued by the General Administration (A) Department, Government of Meghalaya, the day has been declared a local holiday in East Khasi Hills district. The order, however, will not apply to Central Government offices.
In a separate order, the State Government has also declared September 18 a holiday for all banks and financial institutions in East Khasi Hills district under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
The holiday will therefore cover State Government offices, Magisterial and Revenue Courts, educational institutions, banks and financial institutions in East Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills District, Ri-Bhoi District on September 18.
