Shillong, August 13 : The Government of Meghalaya has released the official list of dignitaries who will unfurl the National Flag and take the ceremonial salute during Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2025. Events will be held across various districts, sub-divisional headquarters, and C&RD blocks in the state.
At the district headquarters, the following dignitaries will preside over the ceremonies:
- Shillong:Â Conrad K. Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya
- Nongstoin: Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, Minister
- Nongpoh:Â Paul Lyngdoh, Minister
- Jowai: Kyrmen Shylla, Minister
- Tura:Â Sniawbhalang Dhar, Deputy Chief Minister
- Williamnagar:Â Marcus N. Marak, Minister
- Baghmara: Rupert Momin, MLA
- Resubelpara:Â Abu Taher Mondal, Minister
- Mawkyrwat:Â Comingone Ymbon, Minister
- Ampati: Timothy D. Shira, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker
- Khliehriat: Shakliar Warjri, Minister
- Mairang:Â Alexander Laloo Hek, Minister
Independence Day celebrations will also take place at sub-divisional HQs, with MLAs leading the ceremonies:
- Sohra:Â Gavin Miguel Mylliem, MLA
- Amlarem:Â Lahkmen Rymbui, MLA
- Dadenggre:Â Marthon J. Sangma, MLA
- Pynursla:Â Charles Marngar, MLA
- Chokpot: Sengchim M. Sangma, MLA

- Mawshynrut: Remington G. Momin, MLA
- Ranikor: Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh, MLA

- Jengjal:Â Pongseng R. Marak, MLA
- Dalu: Brening A. Sangma, MLA
At Hima Shangpung, the ceremony will be led by Santa Mary Shylla, MLA.
The General Administration Department has instructed Deputy Commissioners and concerned authorities to plan the programmes accordingly. In case of a dignitary’s absence, the Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Officer, or Block Development Officer may take the salute.
