Shillong, November 02 : The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the three constituents of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) – NEHUTA, NEHUNSA, and NEHUSU – has decided to further intensify its agitation against the Vice Chancellor to pressurize him to issue the termination/removal letter by the forenoon of November 3, 2023, to the illegally appointed Technical Officer/Senior Consultant who was vacated from his room by JAC members in its General Assembly held on October 31, 2023.
The JAC has also questioned the stand of the Vice Chancellor on the illegitimate and illegal appointment after its General Assembly could put up a stiff fight on its demand. As per the statements of the Vice Chancellor to the media, claiming that the appointment of Rohit Prasad was legitimate, the JAC has challenged the Vice Chancellor for an ‘Open Debate’ in front of the press/media along with all the documents that the Vice Chancellor claims to possess.
In continuation to its effective General Assembly organized on October 31, 2023, the Executive Body of JAC in its meeting held on the evening of the same day, RESOLVED to further strengthen its agitation by holding a General Assembly again on November 3, 2023 at 3.30 pm in front of VC’s Office.
The JAC has appealed to all its members, students, research scholars, teachers, and non-teaching staff to attend the General Assembly in large numbers to show their solidarity against the illegal and illegitimate appointment of Rohit Prasad.
