Shillong, October 26: The St. Joseph Church Parish Community of Laitkor organized a grand Eucharistic Procession today drawing thousands of faithful who gathered to worship and adore the Holy Eucharist.
The procession was led by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Francis Kharpan, and liturgical leader, accompanied by all ordained Priests of the community.
Fr. Gerald Khongji, the main celebrant, guided the congregation in a reflection on humility, urging the faithful to serve the poor silently, show compassion to prisoners and those in suffering, and embrace forgiveness and spiritual renewal.
A special highlight of the day was the First Holy Communion of 240 children, marking their initial full participation in the Holy Eucharist.
In the afternoon, the Eucharistic procession was graced by the presence of Most Rev. Bishop Bernard Laloo, Auxiliary Bishop of the Shillong Archdiocese, who served as the chief celebrant, carrying the Blessed Sacrament through the village amidst prayers, hymns, and devotion.
Adding a unique cultural dimension to the event, the Laitkor Traditional Cultural Ensemble performed indigenous Khasi music using instruments such as the khor, khriam, bom, ksing, and tangmuri, symbolizing the harmonious blending of Khasi heritage with Catholic faith.
The St. Joseph Parish Choir enhanced the solemnity with Eucharistic hymns, concluding the event with the Benediction and final blessing by Bishop Laloo, invoking peace, healing, and divine grace upon the community.
