Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Mawbri Marks Golden Jubilee

Shillong, October 1 : Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Mawbri, concluded its Golden Jubilee celebrations with a grand closing ceremony attended by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma as the Chief Guest. The event celebrated 50 years of the institution’s service to education under the motto “Darkness to Light.”

In his address, the Chief Minister congratulated the school on completing five decades of dedicated service. He acknowledged the contributions of the management, teachers, alumni, and the Catholic Church in shaping generations of students. Highlighting the government’s investments in school infrastructure and support for teachers, Sangma also announced an initial contribution of ₹25 lakhs from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund towards the school’s new building project.

Guest of Honour, Damanbait Lamare, MLA of Umroi Constituency, praised the institution for its role in the educational and cultural development of Ri Bhoi District. He encouraged students and teachers to continue striving for excellence.

A key highlight of the event was the reading of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), outlining the school’s plans to expand infrastructure and introduce Science, Commerce, and Arts streams. The MoU also detailed plans for co-curricular and recreational courses and sought government support for the new building project.

The programme featured cultural performances, speeches by alumni, and the felicitation of retired teachers and meritorious students. The school released a special souvenir and launched a book authored by Dr. Mistilia Dkhar.

The celebration concluded with the lowering of the Jubilee Flag, rendition of the school anthem, a vote of thanks by Headmistress Rev. Sr. Anyiele Richa, and the inauguration of newly decorated classrooms.

Students, alumni, faculty, parents, and community members gathered in large numbers, joining in the celebration of 50 years of Little Flower Higher Secondary School’s journey in education.
