Shillong, July 14: Meghalaya has achieved 84.77 per cent coverage in the distribution of Enumeration Forms (EFs) under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026 of the Electoral Roll, reflecting encouraging progress through the coordinated efforts of election officials and active public participation across the state.
According to the Election Department, as of 9:58 am on July 14, 19,91,883 Enumeration Forms had been distributed out of a total electorate of 23,49,645. In addition, 5,64,610 forms have been digitised, accounting for 24.03 per cent of the total electorate.
The districts recording the highest distribution of Enumeration Forms are West Jaintia Hills (98.94%), South West Garo Hills (97.77%), North Garo Hills (95.12%), South West Khasi Hills (90.37%), and East Garo Hills (88.84%).
In terms of digitisation, East Jaintia Hills leads the state with 41.55 per cent, followed by South West Khasi Hills (40.31%), Eastern West Khasi Hills (36.73%), South West Garo Hills (34.01%), and West Garo Hills (33.23%).
As part of its awareness campaign, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer conducted an interaction programme on the Special Intensive Revision with Members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on July 13 at the Conference Hall of the MLA Hostel in Shillong. During the programme, the objectives, significance, timelines and procedures of the revision exercise were explained, while legislators were requested to encourage eligible citizens to participate actively in the process.
The Chief Electoral Officer has also been holding weekly review meetings through video conferencing with District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to monitor the house-to-house distribution and digitisation of Enumeration Forms. Officials have been directed to closely supervise Booth Level Officers (BLOs), promptly resolve field-level issues and ensure that all activities are completed within the timelines prescribed by the Election Commission of India.
The Election Department appreciated the efforts of election officials across the state and appealed to electors who have not yet received or submitted their Enumeration Forms to cooperate with Booth Level Officers during house-to-house visits or contact their respective BLOs for assistance. It also urged all eligible citizens to actively participate in the revision exercise to ensure that every eligible voter is included in the electoral roll.
