Meghalaya Assembly to Host State Round of Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025

Shillong, March 25 : The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and the National Service Scheme (NSS), will host the State Round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025 on March 27, 2025, at the Lariti International Centre for Performing Arts and Culture, Mawkasiang.

This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, aiming to empower youth in policymaking and governance. The event seeks to fulfill the Prime Minister’s call to engage one lakh young people in political discourse.

The State Round will provide a platform for youth aged 18-25 to discuss critical societal issues, fostering informed public discourse and enhancing their decision-making skills.

Participants will deliberate on:

  • “75 Years of the Indian Constitution: A Journey of Rights, Duties, and Progress”
  • “The 11 Sankalp of Samvidhan Divas: A Pledge to Strengthen India’s Constitutional Values.”

The top three participants from the State Round will advance to the National Level, where they will discuss “One Nation, One Election: Simplifying Democracy, Amplifying Progress, Ensuring Stability.”

A significant feature of this year’s National Round is its inclusive format, allowing all state qualifiers to contribute during opening and closing remarks and moderated caucuses, unlike previous editions.

The event will conclude with the drafting of a final resolution, consolidating the most impactful ideas presented by the finalists. This resolution will be presented to national media outlets, amplifying youth-driven policy recommendations.

The Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament aims to cultivate respect for diverse perspectives and highlight the importance of disciplined dialogue within democratic institutions.
