Sohra, January 11 : A two-day cabinet retreat, chaired by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, concluded in Sohra on Saturday. The retreat, a first of its kind, brought together cabinet ministers, senior government officials, and Deputy Commissioners to chart a roadmap for Meghalaya’s growth, dubbed “Vision 2032.”
The retreat featured thematic sessions where senior officials presented departmental challenges and strategies for overcoming them to drive development in the state. The sessions focused on growth in the social and infrastructure sectors, with particular emphasis on addressing challenges in education and health through a synergistic approach.
Key performance indicators identified by departments will contribute to the government’s broader goal of making Meghalaya a top 10 state in the country. The Chief Minister directed departments to work in close coordination to achieve these milestones.
CM Sangma described the retreat as “fruitful and an eye-opener,” emphasizing the need for clear actionables, achievable targets, and regular follow-ups to ensure effective implementation of schemes, programs, and projects. He urged departments to adopt a targeted, time-bound approach and encouraged ministers and officers to conduct regular field visits to gain firsthand insights into public needs and challenges. He also instructed Deputy Commissioners to replicate similar programs at the district level.
Chief Secretary D. P. Wahlang praised the Chief Minister for conceptualizing the retreat, stating that it provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and improved inter-departmental coordination and communication. He called it “a good learning experience and an eye opener,” suggesting that this unique program should be brought to the attention of the Prime Minister.
