MEGHALAYA GOVERNMENT ISSUES STRICT GUIDELINES FOR SCHOOL BUSES AND THREE-WHEELERS

Shillong, August 28 : In pursuance of the directives issued by the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety (SCCORS) and in a bid to enhance road safety for school children, the Meghalaya government has issued a new order outlining strict guidelines for school buses, three-wheelers and any vehicle that is used to transport students.

The order, issued by the Directorate of School Education & Literacy, mandates that all school vehicles display their carrying capacity prominently inside and outside the vehicle. This will help in monitoring and preventing overloading.

Schools are also required to ensure that their vehicles are not overloaded and conduct regular checks to verify compliance.

The government has emphasized the importance of these measures in preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of students.

All District School Education Officers (DSEOs) and Sub-Divisional School Education Officers (SDSEOs) have been instructed to ensure immediate compliance with the new guidelines.
