Chief Minister Scholarship Portal to Open October 7; Deadline November 6

Shillong, October 6: The Meghalaya government has invited fresh and renewal applications under the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme (CMSS) for the academic year 2026-27, with the online application portal scheduled to open on October 7.

According to an advertisement issued by the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, the scholarship is open to eligible permanent residents of Meghalaya pursuing regular or full-time courses from Class XI up to Ph.D. level in recognised educational institutions within or outside the state.

The application portal will remain open until November 6, 2026, while the last date for verification of applications by the state and compliance with defective applications by beneficiaries has been fixed for December 4, 2026.

For first-time applicants, the required documents include the latest or previous year’s marksheet, bonafide certificate, recent passport-size photograph, bank passbook or cancelled cheque, and identity proof of the applicant or guardian such as an MHIS card, MGNREGA job card, EPIC/Voter ID or ration card.

Students applying for renewal from the same institution are required to upload their latest marksheet, bonafide certificate from the current institution, a recent passport-size photograph and bank details if they wish to change their previously submitted account information.

Those renewing the scholarship after joining a new institution must similarly submit their previous year’s marksheet, bonafide certificate from the new institution, recent photograph and updated bank details, where applicable.

The Directorate has also provided a QR code for accessing the Chief Minister Scholarship application facility.
