Shillong, June 23: A delegation from the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is participating in the two-day National Conference of the Estimates Committees of Parliament and State/UT Legislatures, being held from June 23 to 24, 2025, at the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in Mumbai.
Leading the delegation is Mayralborn Syiem, MLA (Nongpoh) and Chairman of the Committee on Estimates, accompanied by Members Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar (Mawkyrwat), Wailadmiki Shylla (Jowai), Miani D. Shira (Ampati), and Arbinstone B. Marak (Selsella). The team is supported by Commissioner & Secretary Andrew Simons and other senior officials of the Meghalaya Assembly Secretariat.
The Conference was inaugurated by Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha. This year’s theme is “Role of Estimates Committee in Effective Monitoring and Review of Budget Estimates for Ensuring Efficiency and Economy in Administration.”
Mayralborn Syiem actively contributed to the discussions, offering insights into Meghalaya’s approach to legislative scrutiny, budget monitoring, and promoting financial accountability. The participation underlines Meghalaya’s ongoing efforts to strengthen good governance through robust legislative oversight.
