Shillong, December 20 : In a major administrative shake-up in the Home (Police) Department, the Meghalaya government has ordered a fresh round of promotions and postings of IPS officers, alongside several transfers in the state police set-up, effective 01 January 2026, according to a notification issued “by the Governor.”
Two IPS officers of the 2008 batch have been promoted to officiate as Inspector General of Police (Super Time Scale) (Level 14) with effect from 01.01.2026. Davis N. Rangsa Marak, IPS (RR:2008), previously DIG (Eastern Range), has been posted as IGP (Law & Order), Shillong. Aditya Goenka, IPS (RR:2008), previously DIG, CID, has been posted as IGP, CID, Shillong.
The government also promoted two IPS officers to officiate as Deputy Inspector General of Police (Super Time Scale) (Level 13A) from 01.01.2026. Vivekanand Singh, IPS (RR:2012), earlier SP, Ri-Bhoi, posted as DIG (Eastern Range), Shillong. Sylvester Nongtnger, IPS (SPS:2012), earlier SSP, TAP, posted as DIG (Security), Shillong.
One IPS officer has been promoted to officiate in the Selection Grade of the Senior Scale (Level 13), effective 01.01.2026. Rituraj Ravi, IPS (RR:2013) promoted and transferred from Commandant, 6 MLP Bn, Umran to Senior Superintendent of Police (TAP), Shillong.
Six IPS officers have been promoted to officiate in the Junior Administrative Grade (JAG) (Level 12) with effect from 01.01.2026, the order said. Promoted to JAG: Giri Prasad M, IPS (RR:2017), Nangkiew K. Syiem, IPS (SPS:2017), Maxwell B. Syiem, IPS (SPS:2017), Lakador Syiem, IPS (SPS:2017), Bobby S.W. Momin, IPS (SPS:2017), Goldenbert D. Kharmawphlang, IPS (SPS:2017).
Key postings/continuations: Giri Prasad M moved from SP, ANTF to SP, Ri-Bhoi District, Nongpoh, Nangkiew K. Syiem to continue as SP (R/PR), Shillong, Maxwell B. Syiem to continue as SP, AID, Shillong, Lakador Syiem to continue as Administrative Officer, Meghalaya Police Academy, Umran, Bobby S.W. Momin to continue as SP, SB-I, Meghalaya, Shillong, Goldenbert D. Kharmawphlang to continue as SP, ATS, Shillong.
Four IPS officers have been promoted to officiate in the Senior Time Scale (Level 11) effective 01.01.2026, followed by postings across battalions and district police.
