Shillong, Feb, 2: Students from Meghalaya are representing the state at the ongoing 69th National School Games being held at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi from January 30 to February 3, 2026.
The national-level sporting event has brought together young athletes from across India to compete and showcase their sporting skills and discipline.
The Meghalaya contingent is competing in both Under-19 Boys and Under-19 Girls categories.
The Under-19 Boys team comprises Dapmon Papang of Lummuroo Higher Secondary School, Shangpung; Karlsten Diengdoh and Haegan Joel Diengdoh of St. Edmund’s School, Shillong; and Mewanlamkupar Marbaniang of Mairang Presbyterian Academy Secondary School, Mairang.
Representing the state in the Under-19 Girls category are Sneha Chettri of Army Public School, Shillong; Geryma Liezel Nongkhlaw of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Happy Valley; Inriti Nongtraw of Loreto Convent School, Shillong; Deidaphi Marpna, a DCA student of Gracyl & Co Institute of Information Technology Society; and Nihaka Lamare of St. Mary Mazzarello Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Jowai.
The team is accompanied by officials Ms. Eranecles Syiem, Mr. Aibanker Kharbithai, and Ms. Cherish M. Patwet, who are providing guidance and logistical support during the competition.
The 69th National School Games is organised by the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), aiming to promote sports excellence, national integration, and holistic development among school students.
Participation of Meghalaya’s young athletes at the national platform highlights the growing focus on sports development in the state and serves as an inspiration to aspiring sportspersons.
