Shillong, February 20 : A delegation of 24 youths from 12 districts of Meghalaya is currently representing the state at the International Exposure Youth Programme in Jakarta and Bali, Indonesia. The program, running from February 16 to 22, 2025, is a prestigious international forum focused on cultural exchange, leadership, and international collaboration.
The delegation, selected from 600 youths across the state, was flagged off on February 14th. They are accompanied by Shri Bobby Wahlang, Youth Programme Coordinator, Smti Darlene M. Khonglam, Sports Officer (HQs), Smti Barbira Momin, DSO, and Smti Beltish Sangma, PTI.
On February 19th, the youths participated in a cultural program and interacted with Indonesian youths at the Don Bosco Institute in Jakarta. This event fostered meaningful discussions and cross-cultural learning, strengthening ties between the two nations.
The delegation also toured historical and cultural sites in Jakarta, including the National Museum, National Monument, Cathedral of Jakarta, bird sanctuary, Space Centre, and small-scale industries. These visits provided exposure to Indonesia’s rich heritage, technological advancements, and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Currently in Bali, the delegation will visit the Kintamani volcano, herbal tea plantations, and other national monuments, further enriching their understanding of Indonesia’s diverse landscape and cultural richness.
This is the fourth time Meghalaya has participated in this international program since its inception in 2015. The program offers a unique opportunity for young students to gain national and international exposure, develop leadership skills, and build friendships. The experiences and insights gained will contribute significantly to their personal growth and future roles as leaders of Meghalaya and the country.
