Meghalaya’s Pineapple Fest Returns to Delhi: 3rd Edition Promises Sweetness, Culture, and Music

New Delhi, July 29 : The much-anticipated 3rd Meghalaya Pineapple Festival is all set to dazzle the national capital from August 1 to 3, 2025 at Dilli Haat, INA, bringing together Meghalaya’s tropical bounty, vibrant culture, and musical artistry in one grand celebration.

Organized by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, the event will showcase the state’s iconic Kew pineapples, known for their natural sweetness and high Brix value, alongside performances by local artists under the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Program (CM-MGMP).

In a special cultural highlight, live MGMP performances will also light up the ceremonial axis at India Gate, introducing Delhiites to the rhythms and soul of Meghalaya’s indigenous music.

Over 30,000 farmers from Ri-Bhoi and Garo Hills districts contribute to Meghalaya’s thriving pineapple industry, supported by self-help groups (SHGs) focused on sustainable practices and traceability. These pineapples are now making waves internationally, with over 757 metric tonnes already exported to the EU’s baby food market.

Earlier this year, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman flagged off a premium shipment to Dubai, now featured in Lulu Hypermarkets, highlighting Meghalaya’s growing global footprint in agri-exports.

Behind the scenes is a robust agricultural support system powered by:

  • 500+ farmer collectives
  • Interest-free loans
  • Cold storage & mobile packhouses
  • Farm-to-airport logistics

Flagship schemes like FOCUS have also empowered farmers with trial marketing grants and stronger market linkages, helping them scale their produce to international standards.

The first two editions of the Pineapple Fest (2023 and 2024) drew national acclaim and global interest. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the event as a tribute to India’s “diverse agricultural heritage” that “empowers our farmers.”

Whether you’re a food lover, culture enthusiast, or weekend wanderer, the Meghalaya Pineapple Fest 2025 promises a perfect blend of taste, tradition, and talent in the heart of New Delhi.
