MeSMCMA nominated Teimiki Sungoh for search and rescue course at HMI, Darjeeling

Shillong, March 09: The Meghalaya Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Association (MeSCMA)  is proud to mentioned that Teimiki Sungoh from Shangpung, West Jaiñtia Hills District has been nominated to attend the Search and Rescue Course in the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling  from 6th – 28th March 2025. This training course is sponsored by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt of Meghalaya.

Search & Rescue Course has been introduced as a regular course in Mountaineering Institutes conducted once in a year, the release said.

Trainees who completed and secured grade ‘A’ only in the Advance Mountaineering Course are eligible for this course.

The course covers Search & Rescue operations in the Himalayas with particular reference to Rescue techniques on rock, snow and ice, First-aid, Mountain Navigation, Radio Telephony, Liaison with various organizations and their involvement during Rescue operations, Audio and Visual communication Signals and evacuation methods including use of helicopters.

The course is primarily intended to assist the hill district authorities and other organizations to establish their own Search & Rescue cells.
