Mawkyrwat, February 24 : The Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), functioning under the Department of Labour, Employment and Skill Development, Government of Meghalaya, organised a Recruitment Drive at Mawkyrwat Block under South West Khasi Hills District.
The drive witnessed the participation of 300 candidates, mainly unemployed youth, job seekersaspiring for placements outside the state, and individuals interested in exploring overseas employment opportunities.
B. Mawlong, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District, attended the inaugural session as the Chief Guest. In his address, he encouraged the youth to dedicate themselves to every training opportunity so that they may successfully achieve their goals. He also highlighted that such platforms serve as a direct link between job seekers and employers, helping to bridge information gaps and expand access to employment opportunities both within or outside the state and outside the country.
The Recruitment Drive is part of a broader outreach initiative being conducted across various districts to enhance employment access, strengthen job linkages, and create inclusive platforms for youth engagement. By decentralising employment services and extending such initiatives to district headquarters, the Government aims to ensure equitable access to opportunities and foster inclusive growth throughout Meghalaya.
Others present at the meeting included M. Tariang, Administrative Officer of the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society, Shillong, V.W. Nongsiej, Managing Director and Founder of Gracy & Co. Institute of Information Technology Society, Mawkyrwat, offered the invocation prayer, U. Kharlyngdoh, Skill Development Officer, South West Khasi Hills District, who chaired the meeting, and Pynsuklang Myrthong, Career Advisor who the vote of thanks.
