Shillong, October 12 : Diengshynrum SC became the first team to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025 after they secured top position in Group C yesterday.
Diengshynrum of East Jaintia Hills District Football Association and Chirupheiwi Nongkynrih FC of Laskein Block Sports Association are the only two teams in Group C. They thus played twice, home and away, and only the top team would progress to the quarterfinals. Diengshynrum had also won the first leg 2-0 on 2 October.
Charlinda Nongtdu (8’, 43’ 72’ 85’) struck four goals for Diengshynrum yesterday on their home turf in Khliehriat, with Saphapaya Lyngdoh (12’), Deimonme Lyngdoh (26’) and Hapily Lyngdoh (78’) adding a goal each.
Meanwhile, in Group A, Na Rympei FA recovered from losing their first two games to beat Lapalang SSCC by a whopping margin of 14-0. Pynhun Shulet led the way with seven goals (7’, 18’, 21’, 38’, 63’ 88’, 90’), with team mates Daai (19′), Remika (22′, 42′), Tracy Rympei (30′), Streamlet Taro (45′), Iawanlang Nongbet (54′) and Wanmi Kharpan (60′) also getting on the scoresheet.
There are five teams in Group A, with the top three to progress to the knockout rounds. Laitkor SC, Pay For Right FA and Na Rympei are the top three at the moment.
In the Group B double-header on Saturday, Mawlum Tyrsad SC and Mawten SC were deadlocked 0-0. Later, Bright Future SSCC defeated Mawsawrit SC 4-0 with goals by Ricika Basawiawmoit (5’, 39’), B Thongni (50’) and H Nongrum (88’).
Group B is the biggest with six teams and the top four will qualify for the quarterfinals. Currently, Mawlum Tyrsad SC, Bright Future, Mawten and Young SSCC make up the top four.
In the only fixture for Monday, Pay For Right FA will face Attacker’s Youth Club at 10am in Group A in Shillong.
