Shillong, October 23: As results go, it was very one-sided in the Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025 as Laitkor won 23-0 against Lapalang at the SSA Stadium in Shillong on Monday.
However, the final whistle saw Lapalang SSCC (of Riwar Mihngi Football Association) come away with smiles on their faces as they shook hands and hugged the players of Laitkor SC (Shillong Sports Association) after the latter enjoyed a phenomenal win that took them back to the top of Group A.
Goal machine Iaraplang Nongrum (1′, 7′, 9′, 25′, 29′, 60′, 66′, 68′, 73′, 80′, 90’+1) scored 11 goals, while her team mates Ilenaki Laloo (23′, 40′), Saralin Warlarpih (26′), Inrila-i-dor Khongthaw (30′, 42′, 45′, 49′), Eiladki Ksoo (65′, 90′), Ibashisha Khongwet (69′, 83′, 87′) also joined in.
Meanwhile, Group B’s matches concluded yesterday, with Jakrem SC (Mawkyrwat District SA) defeating Young SSCC (Pyndengumiong DSA) 3-1. Banhunlang Synrem (27′), Banrihun Wahlang (47′) and Iaphishisha Marbaniang (86′) scored for Jakrem and Bankyntiew Ryntathiang (32′) for Young SSCC.
That result meant that the second match was of little consequence for Mawten SC (Mawkyrwat DSA), who qualified for the quarterfinals as the fourth team from Group B to progress. Mawten and Young SSCC have 4 points each, with Mawten holding head-to-head advantage. In the end, they lost to bottom side Mawsawrit SC (Tyrsad Area SA) 5-0.
As the biggest group – with six teams – Group B will send four to the quarterfinals. These are group winners Mawlum Tyrsad SC (Tyrsad Area SA), Jakrem, Bright Future SSCC (Pyndengumiong DSA) and Mawten.
There are just two fixtures remaining, both in Group A. On Saturday Attacker’s Youth Club of Pahamsyiem will face Lapalang at 10am in Shillong. Then, on Monday, Laitkor will take on Pay For Right Football Academy at the same time and venue.
