MWSL 2025: Quarterfinals to begin tomorrow with super Laitkot-Mawten meeting

Shillong, November 3: The inaugural Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025 has reached the quarterfinal stage, with the first of the knockout matches set to be played at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, on Tuesday morning between Laitkor SC and Mawten SC. Kick-off will be at 10am.

The other three quarterfinals will all take place on Wednesday – Na Rympei Football Academy will face Bright Future SSCC at 10am, followed by Pay For Right Football Academy against Mawlum Tyrsad SC at 1pm and then Diengshynrum SC versus Jakrem SC at 4pm. These matches will also take place at the SSA Stadium.

The 27 group games spread across four venues – Shillong, Mawlum Tyrsad and Khliehriat/Laskein – brought out top quality action and were a fantastic showcase for the strength and potential of women’s football in Meghalaya and there is a lot more to come as the tournament enters its next stage.

The draw for the quarterfinals was held by the Meghalaya Football Association on 1 November.

From Group A, which had five teams, the Top 3 were guaranteed a place in the last-eight – group winners Laitkor, second-placed Pay For Right (both from the Shillong Sports Association) and third-placed Na Rympei (from Ri-Bhoi District Sports Association).

Group B was the biggest with six teams, so the Top 4 qualified for the knockouts. Mawlum Tyrsad (Tyrsad Area SA) were group winners, with Jakrem (Mawkyrwat DSA) second, Bright Future (Pyndengumiong DSA) third and Mawten (Mawkyrwat DSA) fourth.

There were just two teams in Group C – Diengshynrum (East Jaintia Hills District Football Association) and Chirupheiwi Nongkynrih FC (Laskein Block SA). Only the top team from this group progressed and that was Diengshynrum after two wins, home and away.
