NABARD allocates 170 cr for transformative rural infrastructure in Meghalaya

Shillong, April 01: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has committed a substantial 170 crore to the Government of Meghalaya under RIDF XXX for the fiscal year 2024-25. This funding will power 80 rural infrastructure projects, setting the stage for enhanced development across the state.

The approved projects include 27 new River Valley initiatives aimed at restoring soil productivity, safeguarding the environment, maintaining vegetation cover, and promoting sustainable development. Additionally, critical improvements in rural connectivity will be achieved through the construction of 27 new roads; the upgradation, rehabilitation, or improvement of 24 existing roads; and the reconstruction of two key bridges.

This strategic investment underscores NABARD’s dedication to fostering environmental sustainability and improving quality of life in rural Meghalaya. By bolstering infrastructure and connectivity, the projects aim to bridge gaps and pave the way for holistic development.
