NALSA Launches “NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, 2025” Scheme

Shillong, July 26 : The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), has launched a new Scheme, titled- “NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, 2025”, during the Regional Conference held in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir on 26th July, 2025.

The Program included the Launching of the new Scheme- “NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, 2025”which will be implemented by all State Legal Services Authorities & District Legal Services Authorities across the countrythrough the “Legal Services Clinics” set up across all Rajya/Zila Sainik Boards available across all States and Union Territories of India. The Scheme was launched by Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India & Executive Chairman, NALSA, Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh& Patron-in-Chief, Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority in the august presence of Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, Manoj Sinha, Lt. Governor, UT of J&K, Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister, UT of J&K, Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority Justice Sindhu Sharma, Executive Chairperson, Ladakh Legal Services Authority, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM General Officer Commanding-in-Chief. Northern Command and other distinguished Guests and Dignitaries, during the Regional Conference held in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir on 26th July, 2025.

The Scheme aims to provide free and competent legal services to Defence Personnel, Ex-Servicemen, and their family members, by establishing dedicated Legal Services Clinics in collaboration with the Kendriya Sainik Board, Zila Sainik Board and Rajya Sainik Board under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence or the respective Directorate of Sainik Welfare. These Legal Services Clinics will ensure seamless access to NALSA’s nationwide network of legal aid lawyers for prompt and effective legal assistance.

The Legal Services Clinic, Rajya Sainik Board, Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Shillong, Meghalaya, aims to provide all the necessary assistance and providing free and competent legal services as per the scheme guidelines to the Defence Personnel, Ex-Servicemen, and their family members who requires legal services/assistance. The Legal Services Clinic, Rajya Sainik Board, Shillong, Meghalaya will be manned by the Legal Aid Counsels and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority/District Legal Services Authority, Shillong.

The launching of the scheme “NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, 2025” was also joined virtually by the Justice I.P. Mukerji, Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya & Patron-in-Chief, MSLSA, Justice H.S. Thangkhiew, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya & Executive Chairman, MSLSA, E. Kharumnuid, MHJS, Registrar General, High Court of Meghalaya & Member Secretary, MSLSA, T.T.M Sangma, MJS, Officer on Special Duty, MSLSA, Defence personnel and Veterans from Army, Airforce and Navy of Meghalaya, Col. Darryl Hopkins (Retd.), Director of Sainik Welfare, Meghalaya, Lt. Col. Shabestian Marbaniang (Retd.), Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Shillong along with other officers and officials of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Shillong, Legal Aid Counsels/Advocates and Para Legal Volunteers.
