NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, MEGHALAYA TO COMMENCE DUAL DEGREE AND POST GRADUATE LAW PROGRAMMES FROM JULY 2023

National Law University, Meghalaya announced the commencement of its first batch of BA LLB, BS LLB, BBA LLB and LL.M programmes from July 2023. At a press conference held on May 10, 2023 at the Meghalaya State Judicial Academy, the Vice Chancellor of the University along with officials from the Education Department and High Court of Meghalaya briefed the media about the programmes. These 5-year dual degree law programmes after Class 12 and the LL.M (Major in Corporate Law) programme aim to promote legal education and awareness in the state.

The National Law University has reserved 50% of its seats for domicile residents of Meghalaya, according to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Indrajit Dube. He urged students and aspiring lawyers of the state to take advantage of this opportunity and enroll in the university. The National Law University (NLU) will commence its academic session from July this year, with online applications for students starting on April 21 and ending on May 21. The admission test is scheduled on May 28 and the merit list will be published on June 9. According to Prof. Indrajit Dube, Vice Chancellor of NLU, 60 students will be enrolled for undergraduate courses, with 20 each in BA LLB, BS LLB, and BBA LLB honours, while 10 students will be enrolled for postgraduate courses. The annual fee structure for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs is lower than that of private colleges and universities, and other national universities.
