Shillong, June 13 : The North Eastern Council (NEC) today announced the release of ₹4,94,06,178 (Four crore Ninety-Four lakhs Six Thousand One Hundred and Seventy-Eight) in funds for various development projects across the North Eastern Region (NER) during May 2025. Concurrently, the NEC has published its comprehensive “NEC Yearbook 2025,” highlighting socio-economic indicators and transformative initiatives in the region.
The “NEC Yearbook 2025” is the second edition of the publication and serves as a vital compilation of information regarding the NE region, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDONER), and the NEC. It includes important statistics on economic and social development parameters, aiming to increase awareness about sectoral progress and guide future endeavors for policy planners, academicians, and researchers. The recently disbursed funds are earmarked for a diverse range of sectors, including tourism, industry, agriculture, transport and communication, science and technology, human resource development, irrigation, flood control and water management, and the promotion of culture and heritage. The NEC reiterated its commitment to the timely disbursement of these funds to ensure the smooth and prompt implementation and completion of development projects across the North Eastern Region.
Key Projects Funded in Meghalaya and Other States:
A significant portion of the released funds will support projects within Meghalaya, including:
- Integrated farming on Piggery-cum-fish culture in Umling, Jirang C&RD Blocks, Ri-Bhoi District: ₹1,52,58,750
- Sustainable livelihood and income opportunities through improved organic turmeric production in Ri-Bhoi District: ₹33,97,834
- Construction of Boys Hostel and School Building at Khongong of Wapung Village, East Jaintia Hills: ₹62,90,000
- Survey and Investigation of Myntdu-Leshka (Stage-II) HEP (3X70 MW) in East and West Jaintia Hills District: ₹51,90,965
- Survey and Investigation of Selim HEP (2X85 MW) in West Jaintia Hills District: ₹1,82,066
- Survey and Investigation Works of Mawblei HEP 140 MW in West Khasi Hills District: ₹28,80,103

- Implementation of 3 Plan of Action projects for Tripura (PoA101, PoA105, PoA110 NESAC): ₹1,19,61,460
- Gati Shakti based planning & site selection using geospatial Technology for 8 states of NER: ₹17,70,000
- Implementation of 3 Plan of Action projects for Sikkim as per NESAC: ₹11,16,000
- Implementation of 10 Plan of Action projects for Nagaland as per NESAC: ₹5,59,000
- 7th Act East Business Show at Shillong Meghalaya: ₹8,00,000
