Shillong, September 30: The East Khasi Hills district administration has declared a No-Drone Zone within a three-kilometre radius of J.N. Stadium, Polo, Shillong, in view of the proposed visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the city in early October.
According to an order issued by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Abhilash Baranwal, the Union Minister is tentatively scheduled to visit Shillong from October 4 to 5, 2026, to attend the Conferment Ceremony of the President’s Colour to Meghalaya Police, which is scheduled to be held at J.N. Stadium on October 5. The administration said several VIPs and dignitaries are also expected to attend the programme.
Exercising powers under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the District Magistrate has prohibited drone operations within a three-kilometre radius of the venue from October 2 to October 5, 2026.
The order, issued on September 29, has been passed ex-parte considering the urgency of the matter and comes into force with immediate effect. Order Under Section 163 BNSS.
