One-Day Workshop on ICT-Focused Pedagogies to Empower Teacher Educators in Rural Meghalaya

Shillong, May, 7:The Department of Education, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, in collaboration with the North Eastern Regional Centre (NERC) of the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR), Guwahati, is organizing a One-Day Workshop on ICT-Focused Pedagogies on May 8, 2025. The workshop will take place at the Department of Education, NEHU, Shillong.

This significant initiative aims to empower teacher educators, particularly those serving in rural Meghalaya, by bridging gaps in teacher training and enhancing classroom effectiveness through Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The workshop is designed to promote technology-enabled, student-centered pedagogies that are contextually relevant and impactful.

The inaugural session, scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM, will be graced by Prof. S M Sungoh, Vice-Chancellor (In-charge), NEHU, as the Chief Guest. The session will also include remarks from senior faculty members and representatives of NIRDPR.

Throughout the day, the workshop will feature three hands-on sessions led by expert resource persons. These sessions will focus on: Introducing digital pedagogies tailored for rural education contexts, Enhancing teacher educators’ digital literacy, exploring practical tools for integrating technology into classroom instruction.

In addition to the technical sessions, participants will engage in interactive discussions to examine the challenges and opportunities in rural education, fostering a platform for collaborative learning and networking among educators from across the region.

The objectives of the workshop is Introduce ICT-based teaching methodologies for rural teacher educators, build capacity to integrate digital tools into daily teaching practices, address local challenges in the implementation of technology in education, encourage peer-to-peer learning and professional collaboration.
