Shillong, September 22: One person was killed and another injured after a Maruti 800 car ML05-2094 was allegedly hit by a truck at 7th Mile, Upper Shillong, near the Air Force station, in the early hours of Tuesday. The accident reportedly occurred at around 1:40 am.
According to the driver of the badly damaged car, the truck fled the scene immediately after the collision. Both occupants of the car were rushed to Civil Hospital, Shillong, for treatment. However, one of them was later declared dead. The deceased has been identified as Shailang Sawkmie of Mairang, while the injured person has been identified as Emerson Nongsteng of Nongkynrih.
Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident and to trace the truck involved in the collision.
