PLASTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT CENTER TO BE SET UP NEAR PYNDENGREI

Nongstoiñ, October 02 : The Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office, Nongstoin, in association with the Dorbar Shnong Pyndengrei and Pyndengrei Social & Cultural Sports club, Nongstoin, organized an Outreach Programme on Swachhata Hi Seva at Dong Tiehrit, Pyndengrei, Nongstoin today.

The programme focused on creating a mass movement for cleanliness and sanitation through community participation.

The chief guest, Michael Marwein Sordar of Pyndengrei, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Delicia Jyrwa, FPA and the office for organizing this important program in his village. He urged the people to keep cooperating with Government departments to bring about zero waste in Pyndengrei surrounding areas and the town as a whole. He also expressed his gratitude to the office for putting signboards in the locality and not throwing garbage around.

Resource Person, Enbok Syiem, Block Coordinator Swachha Bharat Mission, Nongstoin C&RD Block, stressed on the need of waste segregation right from the households. He also informed the villagers that plastic waste management center is being prepared near Pyndengrei and once the machine is installed, people will be able to dump the plastic waste there, and then it will be used for recycling or re-use.

Delicia E. Jyrwa, Field Publicity Asst., CBC, FO, Nongstoin expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the locality for actively participating in the programme and urged the people to continue keeping the surroundings clean. Additionally, she urged people to always remember the 3 R’s: Reuse, Reduce, Recycle.

Apart from the cleanliness drive, competitions like art and karaoke competitions were organized and winners were felicitated.
